Census Bureau Contracts More Than Double as One IT Vendor Takes 31%

Summary

The U.S. Census Bureau obligated $156.0 million in contracts in FY2026 Q3 (Apr-Jun 2026), up 127.0% quarter-over-quarter from $68.7 million and up 127.3% year-over-year from $68.6 million. A single IT contractor, IgniteAction LLC, took $48.6 million -- 31.1% of the quarter -- entirely through call orders under one single-award on-premise/cloud-infrastructure IDV it holds alone (1333LB25A00000002).

By Vindex · August 14, 2026

The U.S. Census Bureau obligated $156.0 million in contracts in the third quarter of fiscal 2026 (April-June 2026) -- more than double the $68.7 million it obligated the quarter before and the $68.6 million a year earlier. A single IT contractor, IgniteAction LLC, took $48.6 million -- 31.1% of the quarter.

The figures come from USAspending.gov, the Treasury system of record for federal awards, filtered to the Census Bureau and the four contract action types. The $156.0M quarter is up 127.0% from FY26 Q2 and 127.3% from FY25 Q3 -- both prior periods sat near $68.7M. IgniteAction, Four Points Technology ($24.7M) and Vidoori ($19.0M) together are 59% of the quarter's contract money.

IgniteAction's $48.6M is not one big award. It is nine call orders, every one of them issued under a single parent vehicle: IDV 1333LB25A00000002, "ON-PREM AND CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE SUPPORT SERVICES," a single-award indefinite-delivery contract that USAspending shows IgniteAction holds alone. The largest single order, 13TECH26F0004, obligated $14.1M of new money in the quarter. Because the vehicle is single-award, none of these orders is competed among vendors at the order level.

  • The Census Bureau obligated $156.0M in contracts in FY2026 Q3 (Apr-Jun 2026) -- up 127.0% from $68.7M in Q2 and 127.3% from $68.6M a year earlier.
  • IgniteAction LLC received $48.6M -- 31.1% of the quarter -- the single largest recipient.
  • All $48.6M of IgniteAction's Census money came through nine call orders under one single-award IDV (1333LB25A00000002) for on-premise and cloud infrastructure support, held by IgniteAction alone.
  • IgniteAction, Four Points Technology ($24.7M) and Vidoori ($19.0M) together took 59% of the quarter. Every figure is recomputable from the USAspending API queries in the sources.

Obligations cover contract award types A/B/C/D ( calls, purchase orders, delivery/task orders, definitive contracts) by action date, summed at the transaction level; the awarding agency is filtered at the subtier level to the U.S. Census Bureau (within the Department of Commerce). The recipient breakdown and the Census quarterly total ($156,038,679.62) agree -- the total independently equals the sum of all recipients for the window, and IgniteAction's nine in-window transactions sum to its $48,592,016.56 recipient total to the cent. "Single award" refers to the parent IDV's FPDS multiple_or_single_aw_desc field; it means the vehicle has one awardee (IgniteAction), so its call orders are not competed among vendors at the order level. Each API request fixes spending_level explicitly because the endpoint defaults shifted during the pull. This is a held draft prepared for editor review.
